Privacy Policy

Effective August 27, 2026

The short version

  • We collect your star rating, the feedback you write, and your name or phone number only if you choose to share them.
  • Your feedback goes to the specific business you reviewed. We handle it on their behalf.
  • A random session id counts taps and page views. No ad tracking, no advertising cookies.
  • We never sell personal information. Promo phone numbers are used only for that business’s promos.
  • We keep data while the business is a client. Email hello@goodwordlocal.com to have yours deleted.

Who we are

GoodWord Local is a service of Abstract Evergreen Cloud Systems, LLC (“we,” “us”), a California limited liability company, and goodwordlocal.com is our site. We make the tap-to-review table tents you see in local businesses. Tap or scan one and you land on a short review page for that business. This policy covers what happens on that page, and what we collect from the businesses we work with. Questions any time: hello@goodwordlocal.com.

What we collect when you leave feedback

  • Your star rating.
  • Any feedback text you write.
  • Your name and phone number, only if you type them in. Both are optional.
  • If you rate a visit low, any reason you tap (“Wait time”, “Service”) so the owner knows what to fix. Tapping one is optional.
  • Technical events, like taps and page views, tied to a random session id so we can count visits. The id is random. It is not your name, your phone, or an ad profile.

That is the whole list. No ad tracking. No advertising or third-party analytics cookies. Just the session basics a web page needs to work while you use it.

Where your feedback goes

Straight to the specific business you reviewed. If you tapped the tent at a bakery, the bakery’s owner is who reads it. GoodWord Local processes your feedback on that business’s behalf: we store it, deliver it to the owner, and count it in their stats. We do not share it with other businesses.

If you post a Google review

Posting a review on Google happens on Google’s site, under Google’s terms and privacy policy. You write it, in your own words, and you post it yourself. We never post for you.

A note on AI

You write your review yourself, in an empty box. If a business has wording help turned on and you choose to use it, what you wrote (plus the phrases you tapped, as context) may be sent to an AI model that tidies your own words into sentences. It never adds anything you did not say. Use it or ignore it. The text you actually submit is what gets stored, nothing more.

Promo phone numbers

Some businesses offer a promo signup through our pages. If you enter your phone number, it is used only for that business’s promos, never for anyone else’s, and never sold. To get off a list, tell the business or email us.

If you own a business we work with

We collect what we need to run your account: your name, your business name, and the email addresses and phone numbers you give us for daily digests and for texting our assistant. We use that information to run the service, support you, and bill you. The same rules apply: it is never sold and never shared for advertising.

How long we keep it

We keep ratings, feedback, and events while the business you reviewed is a GoodWord Local client. When a business stops being a client, they get an export and our copy is deleted. Want your information deleted sooner? Email hello@goodwordlocal.com and we will remove it.

What we never do

We never sell personal information, and we never share it for advertising. We use a small number of service providers to run the service. They process data for us, on our instructions, not for themselves.

Who processes data for us

We would rather name them than say “trusted partners.”

  • Vercel hosts the site and the review pages.
  • Neon hosts the database where ratings, feedback, and events are stored.
  • Resend delivers the daily digest email to business owners.
  • Anthropic provides the AI model that tidies wording, and only when a customer asks it to.
  • Google Workspace handles our own email.

If we add or change a provider in a way that matters, we will update this list.

Where your data is stored

On servers in the United States. The service is intended for customers and businesses in the United States. If you are using it from elsewhere, your information is processed in the US.

How we protect it

Everything travels over HTTPS and is stored by our hosting and database providers with encryption at rest. Access to the console that shows feedback is limited to us and protected by a token. We collect as little as we can, which is the part that protects you most: information we never had cannot leak.

No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your information, we will tell the affected businesses and, where the law requires it, the people affected.

Children

The service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child gave us information, email us and we will delete it.

If you are in California

California residents may ask what personal information we hold about them, ask for a copy, ask us to correct it, and ask us to delete it. You can also ask us not to sell or share your personal information, though we do neither: we have never sold personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. Exercising any of these rights will never get you worse service. Email hello@goodwordlocal.com and say what you want; we may need to confirm who you are before we act.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update it here and change the effective date at the top. Meaningful changes get emailed to the businesses we work with.
